鐔周縁部の打ち返された耳がきりりと立ち、引き締まって美しい造形。細かな鎚目で荒らされて、篠鑢が掛けられた古風な風合いの地金は、鉄味優れて手触りよく、右下に彫られた左三つ巴紋がすっきりと映える。
作者は加賀国金沢城下で文久、慶応頃活躍した明珍宗久。唐草雲龍図や亀甲文図の信家写しの鐔等、鉄鐔の優品を手掛けた巧手である。加州明珍家は江戸後期、宗久の祖父宗好が江戸明珍総家宗妙門で修業。宗好―宗春―宗久と続いた。
